Shark Out of Water

The sunlight above water burns your grey and greasy skin But you have no way to cry out just a shiver of your fin
The world has feared your sharpness and the blood upon your teeth Feared the shape and shadow as you shimmied through the reef
The horizon starts to blur now, as a tear runs down your jaw You beg the sea to save you from the cruelest earthbound law
Us, we've feared your leaving and your coming and your eyes Blackened as the desert on a moonless, starless night
While we wait and wonder if the punishment is fair A shark that's out of water will go drowning in the air
